Location: Sierra Leone, Africa
Sector: Rail/Mining
Client Request: Recruitment of a Senior Cost Engineer
Recruitment type: Contingency Recruitment

The Requirement:

Our client was overseeing a 2 billion dollar redevelopment of an Iron Ore project which included 200Km of new track, the development of a new iron ore mine and the construction of a new port facility. KCM were contacted by a commercial manager on the project who we had dealt with previously, who introduced our Company to the HR Department.  Apart from the necessary expertise required for the role, of specific importance to the client was that the candidate should have experience in hardship conditions.

 The Method:

At KCM not only do we keep in constant contact with our clients, but we also keep in contact with our candidates.

We had previously placed a senior cost engineer with a major Civil Engineering Company on a remote project in Libya.

The project had come to an abrupt halt due to the political environment in Libya and the candidate was released from his employment.  We had excellent feedback from the company in relation to the candidates work whilst engaged in Libya. The candidate was Indian and had significant experience in South Africa before we placed him in Libya.

Not only had the candidate the exact experience required by our client but he had also a years’ experience in a remote environment.

Within 24hrs of introducing his CV to our client he was interviewed by Skype and after presentation of references an offer was made and accepted.

The Result:

We continue to recruit for the project in Sierra Leon and the candidate himself is highly appreciative of our ability to find him a second opportunity.
